The Story Behind fluffy-river

What started as a single gardener with a van has grown into a trusted team serving homeowners across the UK. Our roots run deep, and so does our commitment to quality.

Founded on Passion, Built on Trust

In 2012, our founder James Whitmore left his desk job in corporate finance to pursue something he'd loved since childhood: working with plants. What began with weekend projects for neighbours turned into a full-time calling.

The early years were challenging. Building a reputation meant long hours, unpredictable weather, and learning lessons that no textbook could teach. But word spread. Clients appreciated the attention to detail, the honest pricing, and the fact that their gardener actually remembered their names.

Today, fluffy-river employs seven full-time gardeners, each bringing their own expertise to the team. We still operate with the same principles James established on day one: show up when you say you will, do the job properly, and treat every garden as though it were your own.

Our Values

These principles guide every decision we make, from hiring to daily operations.

Reliability

When we commit to a schedule, we honour it. Weather permitting, we'll be at your property exactly when agreed. If circumstances change, we communicate early and reschedule promptly.

Transparency

Our quotes detail every element of the work. There are no surprise charges or vague line items. You know what you're paying for before we begin, and we stick to that figure.

Craftsmanship

Good enough isn't good enough. We take pride in clean edges, well-fed soil, and plants positioned where they'll thrive. The details matter, and they show in the results.
